From Mark Catesby’s Natural History of Carolina, Florida and the Bahama Islands, 1754, held in the Bodleian Libraries. Catesby, a fellow of the Royal Society, spent seventeen years preparing his Natural History, which was the first natural history book to use folio sized coloured plates.
