The eastern part of a portolan chart of the Atlantic Ocean, made in Portugal by Domingos Teixeira around 1570. Beautifully hand drawn on parchment, it shows the coasts of Europe and western Africa with remarkable accuracy, with beautiful decorations including flags, comapss roses and a palace surrounded by palm trees in west Africa.
