Travel to distant and exotic lands is the subject of the subject of the three manuscripts that make up this lavish volume, which is typically referred to by its Bodleian shelfmark. The Romance of Alexander recounts, in French, the adventures of Alexander the Great, whose heroic exploits and encounters with marvellous creatures at the margins of the known world fascinated medieval audiences.

Flemish, script finished in 1338. Miniatures, borders, initials by Jehan de Grise and assistants, finished 1344.
